Pyschotherapy

I draw from various modalities and frameworks to guide our work.

Attachment-based, psychodynamic, emotion-focused, somatic, depth-oriented, harm reduction, and strength-based therapies are the basis of my integrative approach.

Our counselling work will begin with creating a safe and supportive environment through empathy and attentive listening. I combine talk therapy and mindful awareness of the mind-body connection to explore your concerns, develop a deeper understanding and cultivate the change you seek. This may be through helping you calm your nervous system, becoming aware of tension/holding patterns, working with strong emotions that have been suppressed or are overwhelming, working with limiting beliefs, or helping you to understand and trust your body’s cues more fully. With curiosity and compassion we may pay particular attention to your ways of interacting in the world, with others and with yourself. I use a collaborative approach to create the space and build the trust that is needed for processing and integrating traumatic experiences.

I am aware of the profound impact that power, oppression, stigma and structural violence have on our health and in shaping our lives. I am sex-positive and have experience supporting diverse relationship models such as open relationships, polyamory, and non-monogamy. My aim is to create a space that is loving, empowering, and that has lots of room for exploration.

There are many factors involved in determining the length of our therapeutic work. It may be based on your goals, your current life circumstances, or your availability. I offer both short and long-term services that can last months or years. I look forward to establishing with you if we will be a good fit to work together.
